Reardan, Ó Ríordáin
Ó Ríordáin comes from the Gaelic “riogh”, meaning ‘royal’, and “bardán”, meaning poet. The clan originated in the areas of the modern counties Offaly and Tipperary. The clan subsequently migrated to west Co. Cork in the southern province of Munster. Today the name is one of the 100 most numerous in Ireland, and remains strongly associated with Co. Cork. |
